July 4 -Exciting but scary

We joined the Paradise Valley Group for breakfast at Bob Evans then Zac stayed with the group to go to downtown Nashville.  Peter, Zane, Genesis and I went back to swim and relax at the RV park.  Then we headed downtown on a shuttle to go the the 4th of July fireworks!  These are rated the 2nd best in the USA!  $30,000 worth of fireworks all in one location.  We got a great spot right in front of the river for viewing the fireworks.  But, the downfall was that we were on a fairly steep hill and the grass was packed with people trying to walk between others to get to whomever they were sitting with.  One lady fell right on Zane as she was attempting to walk down the hill.  Another guy fell on the girl next to Zane, and the people falling continued throughout our 3 hour wait for the fireworks show to start.
It was the most amazing fireworks we have ever seen in our lives!  Absolutely fantastic!
215,000 people packed into a few blocks
There were over 215,000 people viewing the fireworks in downtown Nashville, which was a record attendance for the city.  We worked our way through the crowd like sardines to get to the street.
We were about half way 2nd Ave, when the crowd started to stampede towards us.  You could see the fear on peoples faces as they fled away from whatever had scared them.
Peter was quick to pull us all behind a tree on the other side of the street, and then we ran to a building front and crouched down, when the blast of a cherry bomb/gun fire??? went off.
Police on horseback were on the street getting control of the crowd, as we ducked down a side street to get out of there.  Zane and Genesis were crying and upset and just wanted to get out of there and go home!  This was the beginning of a long night ahead and it was only 10:30 p.m.
We walked to catch the shuttle back to our campsite, to find many people waiting and no shuttles to be found.  After waiting awhile, Peter walked to the end of the street corner and saw our shuttles up a block.  The shuttle had been stuck there full of people for over 2 hours and the traffic was not moving, as police had closed roads.  We considered getting a hotel, as the kids were still real shook up from the scary stampede earlier, but Zac was not with us and hotel cost was very expensive, so we opted to wait it out for a shuttle back to our RV park.
Zac had to take a cab from the Opryland Resort to our RV park.  We did not arrive back to the motorhome till 2:00 a.m.!  I can only tell you that we have never been more thankful to be back to our motorhome in all of our travels.  We are thankful for the Lords protection!

After 27 minutes of the  finest fireworks this was the finale
