May 18 -Cape Breton Christian Fellowship

We went into Sydney, NS to church today at Cape Breton Christian Fellowship.  The service was held in a school, great worship and preaching.  We had lunch at Boston Pizza in Sydney and then got a few groceries in preparation for our journey back to New Brunswick tomorrow.

May 17, Cabot Trail

We are travelling in the car around the entire Cabot Trail.  We stopped at a wonderful Art gallery, in an old church and the kids received an art lesson from the owner who is also an art teacher.  Zac was able to play an 1860’s Broadwood grand piano at the gallery.  Very Cool!!  The woman at the gallery gave us amazing advice about touring the Cabot Trail.   As we travelled down around the Cabot trail we stopped at a leather shop, and a glass blowing shop with lovely items.  We then headed to the Middle Head hiking trail, which is a 2 mile hike to the tip of a peninsula with spectacular views of ocean all around us.

As we continued around the trail we stopped at a Tim Horton’s about 4 in the afternoon. We were the ONLY people there. Just us and 2 staff. It seemed surreal.

We read a sign that says we shouldn't move any rocks, it could upset the ecological balance.

Sounds like a song from the 80's

May 16 -North Sydney, NS

Today we drove to the KOA North Sydney Cabot Trail.  This campground is great!   It's beautiful down in the valley with a great view of the bridge over the river.

May 15, Halifax, one more night

We were going to travel to North Sydney (by the Cabot Trail) but both Peter and Zane were feeling ill through the night, so we decided to stay in Halifax another night.  Peter was able to get up and take the car for an oil change, &  they discovered the car also needed rear brakes, a tie rod end along with an alignment.  The job was done quickly and at a reasonable cost by Joe at Speedy Auto in Lower Sackville.

Peter and I celebrated our 22nd Wedding Anniversary 1 day early. We had a great supper at Jack Astor’s, went to the movie Million Dollar Arm (which was amazing) and then out for coffee.  It was a fantastic evening with a wonderful man.  I am so thankful for my husband and to the Lord for putting him in my life.

May 14 -Mahone Bay, Lunenburg, Peggy's Cove

We are travelling to Lunenburg and Peggy’s Cove, NS today to see the quaint towns and beautiful homes.  We stopped and did a bit of shopping in Mahone Bay, famous for it’s three churches. While looking around the town we stopped at a shop where we watched things being made with pewter.
Next we continued on to Lunenburg for lunch and to see the Bluenose II.  All across Canada you can purchase a medallion of its predecessor’s image for only 10¢.
One our way to Peggy’s Cove we stopped at the Swissair Flight 111 Memorial

Peggy’s Cove was our next stop and it is truly amazing with the huge stones on the beach and the beautiful view!  A place we will never forget!

May 13 -Maritime Museum of the Atlantic

We are heading to the waters edge in Halifax, NS today.  We spent most of our day at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, where we learned about Halifax’s role in the rescue of the survivors and floating non-survivors from the Titantic.

We also learned about the Halifax Explosion, in 1917, which was the largest manmade explosion prior to nuclear weapons.  Two ships ran into each other in the harbour, one of them laden with wartime explosives. Approx 2,000 were killed and 9,000 injured.
