After breakfast at the hotel
in Flagstaff we left for the Grand Canyon. We were quite surprised at the
diversity of landscape in Arizona. Parts of it felt like driving through
logging country in Saskatchewan or Alberta.

Saskatchewan? Alberta? Arizona! |
The canyon views were
incredible. We could understand why so many people from around the world come
to visit the Grand Canyon. Rather than take a guided tour we stopped at the
Imax and watched a reproduction of the first explorers travelling down the Colorado River
through the canyon. After that we drove to the south rim and walked along the
top, stopping at many vista points to read the explanations and see the view.
After eating at the Matwik Lodge cafeteria we continued our sightseeing and
then drove a little over 4 hours back to Mesa.
