November 1 McMinnville, OR Spruce Goose

November 1, 2013
We made a day of it at the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum. We were there for 7 hours! This museum houses the Spruce Goose, which is also called the Flying Boat or Hughes Hercules H4.  It is massive!

Larger than a 747. Compare it to the Coast Guard twin under the wing.

Zane had  built a model airplane of it last year and won 1st at the Lloyd Fair, here he is pictured sitting in the same seat as Howard Hughes when he flew the Spruce Goose at Long Beach, CA

5 Parkinsons on the Flight Deck of the Spruce Goose.

Wow! Well worth the trip!  The museum was so very educational.  We also went on a tour of a B17 Bomber airplane, it was so cool!  It was amazing how little space these men had in that aircraft and some of the conditions they endured during the War.

After we finished our 7 hour stint at the museum we climbed thousands of steps at the waterslides. 111 steps for each single ride down.
