During our stay at Sacramento we did a few activities
too. Like going to old Sacramento for lunch, going for a horse drawn carriage
ride and to the old candy stores.
We also had a private tour of the up and coming flying car, called the Moller Skycar. It was a truly unbelievable tour, as Dr. Moller has been 30 years working on this project, which began with a flying saucer and has now moved into the Skycar. They don’t normally give tours, but Ken and Glenda’s neighbor Bruce is the GM so Peter asked if he would give us a tour and he did! When we arrived at the Skycar offices there was an ominous sign posted on the door. "Closed to Vistitors" . Our kids said this was one of the best tours so far!!
A true Flying Saucer
Pic of a newspaper article when one of the prototype saucers had a manned flight.

This car has 8 lightweight Rotax motors producing 3hp/pound. 2 engines in each pivoting pod allow for VTOL -Vertical Take Off & Landing
This Skycar prototype has flown unmanned while tethered. Manned flight testing should take place this summer if funding becomes available.

Prototype future Skycar that has fixed pods with VTOL being achieved by vanes that pivot, directing the air from the engine fans.
Dr. Moller signing some of his very creative advertising posters. He told us that he had never been asked to sign anything before.
More about Dr. Moller and Skycar can be found here.
Also while in Sac we were able to get some repair work done on
the car. It had a leaking thermostat gasket. The local Jeep dealer had to order the parts but once the parts were in they had it installed in a couple of hours.
Glenda had polled all of the surrounding neighbours to see if they
would mind having the behemoth motorhome plugging up their street with no objections. On the 6th day the police showed up at the door saying that they had had a complaint and that we would have to move. As he could see the MH was already running just waiting for Peter to finish up some TruckZone business and then we were off. Mr. Policeman was very polite and left quickly without incident.
