Can you see the ball? This was taken with an iphone! |
Because there is Major League
baseball spring training going on right now in Fort Myers area, we took the
opportunity to take in a game at Port Charlotte. It was the Tampa Bay Rays vs The Toronto Blue
Jays. The kids and I had never been to a baseball game before, and I loved
it! We had super tickets, and we were
able to see the players and the field so well!
It was lots of fun! After the
game we went to Cubby’s for Ice Cream in Punta Gorda, FL. Yummy!
We had missed doing the war
museum at Fisherman’s Village in Punta Gorda when we were there the first time.
Because it was such a short drive we decided to go back.

One of the museum volunteers suited Zane up and told hime to be ready to report to Fort Bragg at 18:00 hours |
Peter and Zane spent the most
time there and learned that during WWII prisoners of war were allowed comfort
items. One of the items allowed was the board game Monopoly. Unknown to the
enemy was the fact that some of the board games were specially marked with a
red dot on the Free Parking square. Hidden within the game were silk maps of
escape routes, a magnetic compass and a
metal file as well as German, Italian and French currency hidden within the
Monopoly money. This information wasn’t declassified until the 1980’s
